Qian Hu's 1Q09 net profit up 10.5% to $1.4 million; swims to India for JV with Chennai accessories distributor


Mainboard-listed integrated ornamental fish service provider Qian Hu Corporation Limited (“Qian Hu”) reported that its net profit attributable to shareholders for the first quarter ended March 31, 2009 rose 10.5 per cent to approximately $1.4 million on the back of a 0.6 per cent rise in Group revenue to approximately $23.2 million.

Underscoring the resilience of the Group's business model, Qian Hu reported a 1.8 per cent increase in the sales of Ornamental Fish which was due to the resumption of a consistent supply of Dragon Fish, as well as increased export of fish to more customers and countries in the latest three months.

Wearnes breaks ground for two prime property projects in China


WBL Corporation Limited (Wearnes or the Group), an international group with key activities in technology, automotive distribution, property development and engineering and distribution, is breaking ground on two prime property projects in Chengdu and Shenyang in the PRC.

In the south-western part of Chengdu, “Orchard Villa” is designed as a low density, high-end residential project that will offer buyers a variety of housing types such as semidetached houses and terrace houses. The project in Shenyang sits on the prime land along the Golden Corridor of Shenyang which runs along the centre of Shenyang City and will boast a built-up area totaling 316,374 sq metres.

Raffles Education Corp Establishes New College In Bangalore, India


Raffles Education Corporation Limited (“RafflesEducationCorp” or “the Group”), the largest private education provider in the Asia-Pacific region, announced that it will establish a Raffles International College in Bangalore through its joint venture with Educomp Solutions Ltd.

This college will offer Advanced Diplomas in Fashion Design, Graphic Design, Product Design, Interior Design, Multimedia Design, Fashion Marketing and Management, Business Management and Tourism and Hospitality Management. A total of US$1.0 million (S$1.5 million), shared equally by both partners, will be invested in the new college.

Sunpower To Build Pressure Vessels Worth RMB63.7 Million For One Of China's Largest Conglomerates


Mainboard-listed Sunpower Group Ltd. (“Sunpower” or “the Group”), a China-based heat transfer technology specialist engaged in the design, R&D and manufacture of customised energysaving and environmental protection products for diverse industries, announced that its subsidiary, Jiangsu Sunpower Technology Co., Ltd. (“Sunpower Technology”), has secured a contract worth approximately RMB63.7 million with Wuhuan Engineering Corporation (“WEC”) to manufacture and install pressure vessel equipment for Henan Longyu International Trading Co., Limited. (“Longyu”). Sunpower's pressure vessels form an integral part of Longyu's 40,000-ton metaformaldehydes project, and are expected to be delivered by 1H2010.
